| Michael uses Ross reels for Trout and Steelhead | |
| The first fly reel that I ever purchased in 1968, a Shakespeare Russel was soon replaced by a Pflueger Medalist and finally a Hardy Featherweight in 1974. I fished the featherweight until 1994 and this reel has fond memories for me but my Ross Cimmaron, which replaced my Hardy, is now my workhorse. I became a serious fly fisherman in the mid 90s, my wife left long ago, my kids grown up, and I lost my job (what a blessing!). Anyways I have structured my life around fly-fishing and have become a real trout bum. I fish 100 days a year and my wading shoes seldom dry out. The Cimmaron has helped me land 15-pound steelhead and protect 7x tippets on 15-inch wild brown trout in my home rivers in Western, New York. It has survived with no damage 6 foot drops to the hard rock found in the Genesse River Gorge and been fully immersed in her silty, but beautiful to me now, water of my home River which at times offers superb steelhead fishing, and the drag even wet still fully functions. Recently I needed some parts for my Ross Reels: I e-mailed my request on a Sunday, received a response on a Monday, and received the parts free of charge on Thursday. Ross Reels are designed and built for lifetime use, the company maintains a narrow focus to manufacture the best fly reels for the money on the market, and offers superb service. I own about seven Ross Reels now and will fish with nothing else. | |
